HOSPITAL PACKING LIST

We recommend packing your bag a month before your due date and having it ready to go in an easy to access place.

Don’t worry too much about outfits for mom or the baby except for things to wear home. Many new moms wear their hospital gown the whole time.

The hospital provides diapers, kimonos, and hats for your baby to wear during your stay.

For the Room

  • Snacks
Typically, you can’t eat solids during labor – but you can have things like Jello and Popsicles. You and your partner will likely want snacks in your room during your hospital stay once your baby is born as well.
  • Drinks
Bottles of Water, Coconut Water, Gatorade or anything else you like to drink
  • Extra Long Phone Chargers x 3
  • Extension Cord or Surge Protector
  • Extra Pillow and Blanket for Partner (and mom if you want)
  • iPad/Tablet with Entertainment Pre-downloaded

For Baby

  • Velcro swaddles x 3
The ones the hospital provides are usually swaddle blankets and are harder to manage. Bring a few different types to see which you like best.
  • Baby Outfits in NB Size x 2
You will really only need 1 but bring a backup in case of staining or sizing
    issues.
  • Pacifiers x 3
We recommend the Bibs brand because they tend to stay in the best
  • Signs, Swaddles, Hats
If you want anything special to take pictures of your baby with Something like this Felt Letter Board may be a nice way to document your baby’s birth date, time, height, weight, and name.
  • Car Seat
Practice putting the car seat into the car and buckling it before baby comes. We love the Doona (especially for city babies).
  • Car Seat Cover and/or Receiving Blanket
This is for winter babies only – to keep baby warm from door to door. Here’s one we like from 7AM.

For Mom

  • 1 Pajama Nightgown with Buttons for Mom
  • 2 Nursing Bras
  • 1 Go Home Outfit
    • Size Up! Remember, you’ll still look pregnant.
  • Shoes to Go Home In
    • We recommend adjustable or extra wide shoes to account for potential feet swelling

  • Zip Sweatshirt
    • May want a dark color to prevent staining
  • 3 Sticky Bottom or Other Comfy Socks
