NATALIE

Child’s Age: 3 Years Old
Location: White Plains, NY
Fun Fact About You: I’m the owner and lead sleep expert of Sleepy On Hudson.

Alongside obtaining a certification as a Pediatric Sleep Consultant, she also has an educational focus in Early Childhood Education & Certified Postpartum Doula. I support families with their 4 month old to 4 years old by using her knowledge and experience to evaluate their child’s sleep. I identify their sleep struggles and which sleep training method would be best suited for their age, temperament and sleep environment. I believe sleep is the key foundation to a healthy and happy child, parent, and family as a whole. I am passionate about the magic of sleep. My favorite part of this profession is being able to promise light at the end of a very dark, sleep deprived tunnel.

What has one of your biggest parenting hurdles been?

Of course, Sleep! My little guy had a very hard time with night time sleep. Until he was 9 months old, he would wake every 2-3 hours throughout the night. I went into survival mode and co-slept with him. Even then, sleep was not improving. I met the previous owner of sleepy on Hudson at a local moms group, and she changed my life entirely! She was gentle and kind. Answer allllll of my very concerned first time mom questions. Once we had a plan in place, he began sleeping 12 hours straight. I got my evenings back with my husband as well as my sanity. After seeing how important the support is for moms, I became certified as a pediatric sleep consultant.

What has one of your proudest parenting moments been?

My proudest moment was delivering my baby. It was so empowering. I had a great team of support by my side. I never felt such pride and gratitude in one moment.

What’s the parenting advice you wish you got?

Accept the help. Don’t worry about asking for too much. Help and support is needed. Especially during the 4th trimester.

As an expert in your field, what’s one piece of advice you want to share with parents?

Build your tribe. Connect with other parents, go to parent meet ups, learn more about other professionals that can help with this new transition of life.

What’s a perfect parenting product you used?

Love the halo sleep sack. I like how baby can have both arms in, one arm out, or both arms out. I also like the “wings” on the sleep sack that can go around the baby’s tummy to offer a more comforting feel.

Big fan of the yoga sleep sound machine. Love how its a natural white noise & portable.

What new things are happening in your child’s life this month?

This month we are tackling potty training. It’s going well overall!
